UTT AMIS is the Unit Trust of Tanzania's investment platform, letting you buy units in pooled funds — money market, bonds, balanced or education funds. What UTT AMIS is
UTT AMIS (UTT Asset Management and Investor Services) is Tanzania's unit trust platform. When you invest, your money is pooled with other investors' and used to buy units in a fund. Your investment is valued by the fund's unit price, which moves with the fund's returns.
The funds UTT offers
UTT offers several funds with different risk and return profiles: the Money Market Fund (indicative ~8% p.a.), Liquid Fund (~9%), Bond Fund (~11%), Balanced Fund (~13%) and the Jikimu education fund (~12%). These are indicative, not guaranteed — the calculator uses the same figures to project growth.
How returns compound
Returns are compounded monthly: each month's return is earned on the previous balance, so growth accelerates over time. The calculator applies the fund's annual rate as a monthly rate over your chosen number of years, and also compounds any monthly contributions you add.
Lump sums, monthly contributions, and the calculator
You can start with a lump sum, add fixed monthly contributions, or both. The UTT calculator projects the future value from your starting amount, your monthly top-up, the fund's indicative return and the time horizon, and also shows how much of the result is your own money versus growth.
Worked example
A 1,000,000 TZS lump sum in the UTT Money Market Fund (8% indicative p.a.) would grow to about 1,489,846 TZS after 5 years with no extra monthly contributions.
