How it works
The converter uses the browser's built-in time zone database to account for each zone's UTC offset and daylight-saving rules.

9:00 in New York, in January and in July
New York observes daylight saving time while Tanzania stays on East Africa Time (UTC+3) all year, so the difference changes with the season. On 15 January, 9:00 New York (EST) is 5:00 PM in Dar es Salaam. On 15 July, 9:00 New York (EDT) is 4:00 PM in Dar es Salaam.
Why the same city needs two answers
Tanzania never changes its clocks, so the whole change comes from the other side. The gap to New York is eight hours in January and seven in July, and to London three hours in January and two in July. Any single "the difference is X hours" statement is therefore wrong for part of the year, which is why this tool converts a specific date and time.
A zone that is not a whole hour away
India is UTC+5:30, so 9:00 in Dar es Salaam is 11:30 in Mumbai rather than 11:00 or 12:00. Nepal is offset by 45 minutes rather than 30, so not every zone lines up on the hour and a meeting time taken from a converter that assumes whole hours can be half an hour out.

What it assumes
- Uses each zone's offset for the date in question, including any daylight-saving rule in force that day.
- Tanzania is UTC+3 all year, with no daylight saving, so its offset never changes.
- The output is a wall-clock time in the target zone rather than a duration, so it does not say how long a flight or a call takes.
Where the result does not apply
- A country that changes its daylight-saving rules or its standard offset dates the answer to the rules in force when the tool's data was built.
- Scheduled times (flights, meetings) are best confirmed against the operating company's own clock, not a converted local time.
- It does not apply to a place that is not in the time zone database by name, such as an informal local label or a military designator, which has to be mapped to a city first.
